Advent means “the coming” and refers to Jesus coming in the flesh 2000 years ago, and his promise to come again in the future. This Advent we invite each of you to give a gift to the Lord. It is also a gift to yourself!

First Challenge Week:
The Gospels: Discover the life and miracles of Jesus, our Commander.
Week one we begin with HOPE. Hope is future looking. The writer of the book of Hebrews said that, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Heb 11:1)” For a long time Israel had prayed for a Messiah to rescue them. That hope, that prayer, was answered when God kept his promises at the birth of Jesus.
What is the difference between faith and hope? What is the importance of hope in our lives? In our Christian faith? How does Advent remind us that we can trust the promises of God?
Over the next five days you are invited to learn more about Jesus by spending time in The Commander’s Bio studying the Gospels. In the Bible, Jesus Christ is often referred to as Lord. The word “Lord” means boss or Commander. You are in for a blessing as you meet Jesus in his word, and understand our one true source of eternal hope, as recorded by those who witnessed it.
Almighty God, while everything around me changes, you do not. I can trust in you and in your holy Word. Today, I put my hope in you and in you alone, who is my strength and my redeemer. Amen.
