Welcome to the first week in a five-part Advent series. The four weeks prior to Christmas are called Advent. Advent means “the coming” and refers to Jesus coming in the flesh 2000 years ago, and his promise to come again in the future. This Advent we invite each of you to give a gift to the Lord. It is also a gift to yourself!
Prepare Him Room: How it Works
Join us for an abbreviated read of our popular Military Bible Challenge. We selected five Scripture readings each week that point us toward our Savior Jesus Christ whose birth we are preparing to celebrate. Check out the readings below or follow us on social media as we post the readings each day!
Forth Challenge Week:
Acts & Revelation: Uncover the founding of the Christian Church and his ultimate plan for his people.
Week four we focus on LOVE. For many, our concepts of love can be shallow and conditional. But for our God, his love is unconditional and forever. The Apostle John described it like this: “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)” The word ‘propitiation’ here means basically the same thing as the word ‘atonement,’ a sacrifice for sins.
What does it say about God that he would love us even when we did not love him? How did God the Father prove his love for us? What was the purpose in the Son coming to earth? How has God’s love changed your life?
Over the next five days you will study the Church Past (Acts) and Future (Revelation). As you learn of the growth of the Christian Church and God’s prophesies for the end of days, you will see practical demonstrations of the love of God borne out in his church. They each emphasize God’s sovereignty throughout history, and that he has a plan for his people.
God my Father, thank you for loving me enough to send your only Son. I thank you that through him my sins are forgiven, and I can experience the breadth and depth of your love in my love. Help me to share that love with others this week. Amen.
