Check back each Monday for a short recap of what we’re learning in the Operation RECON app going through the book of Mark.
Welcome to Operation Recon. As you know, in the Military, Recon or reconnaissance is the scouting of an area to learn as much as possible about that area.
Since accuracy is essential, it is important to have a reliable map.
In joining Operation Recon, you are embarking on a series of reconnaissance missions to explore who Jesus Christ really was and is. Your reliable map is the Gospel of Mark.
Your reliable map is the Gospel of Mark.
In the first Patrol of the first mission, you are given directions to Jesus by two important sources. One source is the Hebrew Scriptures or Old Testament, the other is John the Baptist. The Old Testament contains many prophecies describing the Messiah. John the Baptist points out how they are fulfilled in Jesus.
In this first patrol you will also learn some important terminology that will serve you well throughout the rest of your RECON mission. Pay close attention as it will deepen your understanding of who Jesus is. This is crucial. For this mission, you will collect first-hand information from the Gospel of Mark about the claims of Jesus Christ. You will also hear personal stories of Veterans whose lives were changed when they met Jesus. The stories of these scouts are important for a proper reconnaissance.
In undertaking this patrol, I can also assure you that you will be successful in your mission. God made this promise through the prophet Jeremiah, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart” (29:13).
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all of your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
This is an important mission. Failure is not an option. Put your heart into it, and move out.
