WHY SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT?

Military service can create physical, mental, and spiritual injuries. Scripture engagement has proven to rebuild and restore resiliency, heal trauma, and offer hope. To leverage this power, we developed a comprehensive portfolio of six Scripture-rich, interactive programs to address Military struggles like trauma, hopelessness, and fear.

PATHWAY OF SCRIPTURE ENGAGEMENT

The Pathway of Scripture Engagement outlines the steps most individuals take from receiving a Bible to being transformed by it. Knowing most individuals encounter an inflection point at stage 4, Armed Services Ministry focuses our efforts on stages 4-5 to help individuals:

  • Make time to read the Bible.
  • Overcome feelings of intimidation.
  • Learn how to better understand God’s Word.

If an individual has access to the Bible, but does not engage with it, all the truth and freedom the God’s Word contains for their lives remains closed to them. This is a tragedy indeed.

FROM HARDSHIP TO SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION

Through our programs and resources, Armed Services Ministry helps service members, veterans, and their families see and experience how transformative the Bible can be for them. By understanding their needs, interests, personal pain, or transitional disruption (such as deployment, personal crises, and life transitions) we position God’s Word alongside with answers and solutions. Users get to apply God’s Word and experience its hope, strength and peace for their lives, motivating them to engage with Scripture in a deeper way than ever before.

HOW IT WORKS

Created by the Military and for the Military, our programs:

  • Address the spiritual needs of those who have served, Military wives, and their children
  • Use cutting-edge learning and user-experience tools and technology
  • Are built to measure and report timely outcomes and impact
  • Demonstrate movement along a defined Pathway of Scripture Engagement.

Dr. Byron Johnson and the Institute of Studies of Religion at Baylor University are conducting third-party process and outcome studies to provide objective feedback and measurement of our program impact.

Our goal is to work with the 6,000+ Chaplains and thousands of churches nationally, who directly minister to Service members, Veterans, and their families.

By focusing our efforts in 13 Military-dense communities across the U.S., our long-term goal is to engage more than 6,000 Chaplains and 7,500 church leaders. This offers the opportunity to reach 85% of our Military Service Members, Veterans, and families.
