Mission creep is a concern for all Military Members. You have your objective, but something comes along that becomes a mission distraction. But is it possible that sometimes the distraction is as important as your original mission?
In this first patrol of the third mission, your assignment is to investigate a story of Jesus, enroute to assist a well-to-do official, being interrupted by a commoner. Instead of dismissing or punishing her, he turned his full, loving attention to her.
We need you to dig deeper into this story and report back as to why Jesus would do such a thing. Why do you think that Jesus stopped for this woman? What was Jesus teaching his followers by allowing this woman to interrupt his original mission?
This story has enormous implications for our future missions. Your thoughts and observations will prove invaluable.
This event seems to tie into a warning given to us by the Apostle John,
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:17-18
